The Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia and Chesterfield Department of Parks and Recreation will present a free lecture: Know Thyself: Virginia African-American History Woven into English Literature Class by Sonia Smith, President of Chesterfield Education Assn. Cross-curricular teaching always brings relevance to any given lesson. As an English teacher (by trade), the speaker will discuss how weaving in her story and family history fosters trust in the classroom among the students and teacher, curiosity in untold Virginia African-American History, and for some, a heightened interest in education as a career-path.

Reservations are not necessary for this free lecture, but seating may be limited.
