Richlands Dairy Farm
116 Cox Road – U. S. Route 460
Blackstone, VA 23824
Richlands Dairy Farm will have its Fall Festival showcasing Virginia agriculture and demonstrating how we get our milk, while offering lots of really fun activities for kids of all ages. On the Hayride around the farm you may see some of the wildlife that lives nearby, such as bald eagles, turtles, foxes, coyotes and maybe even a bear.
There is a huge Corn Maze, the design changes each year, and it is 4 acres in size. There is a Petting Zoo where you will meet pigs, goats, sheep, rabbits and horses and you can even give a treat to the goats and horses. The Walking Tour of the Farm is an introduction to all that goes into producing milk, the dairy barn, the calf barn, the milking parlor – what makes a dairy farm go. What do the cows eat? How are they milked and when? The Children’s Area has interactive exhibits that explore the many aspects of agriculture with games, crafts, coloring, a no-kick milk cow, corn hole, a cottonseed pit and more. Of course, you will want o select your very special pumpkin (cost: $2.50 - $15 depending upon size).
There are concessions available for lunch and snacks, but you are welcome to bring a picnic and find a shady spot. You are asked not to bring pets; can’t risk spooking the cows.
